At ThomsonAdsett, our industrial team has a long-ranging experience in developing first rate industrial facilities.
Similar to the industrial process, architectural design for industrial facilities seeks to gain maximum productivity from the eventuating facility. Functionality is the key concern in any industrial process, and functionality is therefore the key tenet of our design methodology. In these types of buildings, form definitely follows function.
For example in a mail processing facility we would seek to minimise the distance mail had to be moved from when it arrives in the centre to when it is dispatched.
The company designed the Australian headquarters for Komatsu Australia in Fairfield, NSW. This included national and NSW regional administration and sales offices, 3500m2 of high-bay automated picking, national parts warehouse and heavy machinery workshops.
From 1988 to 1992, the team was associated with the design and construction of two major mail facilities in Underwood and Northgate in South East Queensland, with sundry extensions to these and other regional mail facilities at Nambour and Heathwood.
Subsequent to these projects, the firm has been involved in the Masterplanning of the total MIA at the Dawson Coal Mine for Anglo Coal, which included the total design and documentation of the central mine administration and bath house facility, now completed.
The firm is also preparing developed design drawings for another similar MIA complex in Queensland, including heavy machinery workshops/ store buildings, machinery wash, administration offices and bath house facilities.
