Viewed by the government as the best dementia facility in Asia, this centre provides a much needed service for dementia patients. Apex Harmony Lodge provides 224 residential and 50 day-care places and is purpose built for people with dementia. It includes seven wards, a day care centre, staff quarters, physiotherapy rooms, kitchen, multi-purpose hall and landscaped gardens and courtyards. Each ward is fully self-contained with its own dining area, relaxation room, assist-bathrooms and visitors lounge. These self-enclosed units provide an area that patients can identify as their normal dwelling, and enable them to walk around with minimal supervision.
The garden contains both active and tranquil areas to suit residents of all levels of frailty. It has been designed to enable supervision from internal areas to minimise the burden on staff, and is secure so that ambulatory residents with dementia can gain exercise without risk of wandering off the premises.
